The Perks

There are plenty of perks to Doug being a Residential Designer, but one of them that both Addy and I  LOVE is getting to color the blueprints. We have such a good time with his garbage, it's great, and they come in all sizes 8.5 x 11 all the way up to four 4feet by whatever, SO FUN, the only trouble is making sure Addy knows what is OK to color on and what Daddy is still working on????  I say color his work just don't color my walls. (call me selfish).... I am pretty sure the house of many colors needs to go in his advertising,  or at least on his website, LOL!

This Particular sheet is folded in half, by the time we were done we had used every inch of  white space.

Kudos to her, coloring with the crayons and not eating them, We are making progress!

Alphabet Bags

So Amongst all those fabric rems I am trying to clean out of my house I have a TON of jean material recycled from actual jeans that were worn. (not necessarily just by us, I have totes full, by tons I mean tons) For months I worked on EVERYTHING Jean. (more pictures to come of other jean projects) But I finally finished loading our alphabet bags. I got the idea from a Friend who had done some for her kids, and  they seemed to be a hit, so I thought we would give it a try. They are a little old for Addy just yet, but she likes to take the stuff in and out of the bags and it gives me an opportunity to at least let her start hearing about the alphabet, in a more tangible way then her books. Each bag contains items that start with it's Letter, we found all kinds of objects with different textures and different uses,  I pulled just a few out so you can see them. She only looks at one at a time then we move on to something else. Thanks to J for the idea and a huge thank you to my friend who is letting me use her embroidery machine, we have had so much fun with it. And thanks to Doug who as always figured out the pattern for me and did a bit of the sewing, heaven forbid I actually have to use a REAL pattern when making something, homemade patterns seem to work out so well for us, seriously I can't remember when I used a patten, although I have a project coming up that uses one, perhaps it keeps getting put off for that reason, hmmm.. All in all we did about 35 bags, I am sure you are thinking there are only 26 letters in the alphabet, this I know but we did a few for FHE topics too. More finished projects to come....

A Few days ago, we HAD to get out of the house so we took Addy to Cabala's, Our intent was to look at a new family tent, as our two man tent just isn't cutting it anymore. What we found however was a CHILD PLAY LAND, at least for our kid, she cried and cried when we left, she had so much fun in the tents running in and out of them, even the workers were getting a kick out of her, along her way she picked up a hat and a water bottle looked at all the animals, then back to the tents,  She looked like a TRUE outdoors man / Lady (wish I had taken a picture) It was such  a good time for her, Who would have thought? and I have to admit quite amusing for us. Later in the week we again needed to get out of the house (we have been home A LOT due to all this crud we have had)  so we went to some garage sales in our neighborhood, and what should we find but a Princess Tent, DIRT CHEAP, Doug had to fix a few holes, and it needed a new pole but it is now as good as new, and we have one HAPPY CAMPER, (not quite the family tent we were looking for, but a great find especially for right now while we are missing out on all the play groups and library fun, Hopefully we will be back in the swing of things soon)
