Nothing is Safe!

We are officially at that stage that nothing is safe! Addy has figured out how to work the doorknobs, This is what  they look like in our home, she was having quite the trouble with the egg shape, but she has now mastered them, deadbolts, and car doors from the inside and on the outside! She is also proficient with the lights, so she can come and go from a room as she pleases. This progress for her, is great, for her, but seems to be very unnerving for me. The other day I woke up to her standing in my doorway (that is the first time she has gotten out of her bed in the morning without one of us getting her) She only did it that once and hasn't done it again since, but we will definitely be on our A game around here, as she can totally leave the house whenever she wants, today she was caught heading out the front door! (mind you the deadbolt was thrown, and she still got the door open) For the most part she has been very good with turning the lights off when she leaves a room and turning them on when she needs them, as well as she has been very good about being redirected with the opening and closing of doors, but, really I didn't think this would bother me so much, lots of anxiety about the idea of her roaming free now that there are no bars(from the crib), and no doors stopping her.  I am hoping to not have to buy those childproof deals for the knobs, by teaching her what is ok and what isn't but we need to keep her safe, so only time will tell if she is going to be compliant! I think I have two more tricks up my sleeve to slow her down at least with leaving the the house, but I am sure it is just a matter of time before she figures those out too,  Oh the wonder of having a Tall almost two year old, If only we were on the same page for her mastering things!

Curls and Girls!

Long story short Addy was getting her pictures done in those old fashion, antique settings (for free, thanks to a friend of ours) So, I decided that I would try curling her hair with the curling Iron. I have never done that since she normally has just enough curl on her own it is cute, easy and fast! But alas I decided to give it a go, she did well until I was just past half way , then she was ready to be done, Obviously from the picture you can tell I made her stay until I was done! Her hair turned out so cute, unfortunately she cried through all the photos, I haven't seen them yet, but I suspect there isn't a one without a sad/mad Addy face in it...

She looked so cute, too, that's the breaks though right, it couldn't all work out perfect! It is however the first time in months we have scheduled to have her pictures done and not had to cancel because of a black and blue bruise somewhere on her face!

On Thursday Doug had to leave town for work, since he was going to be gone for four days and I do not do well during the night on my own, not to mention I am on a number of restrictions that make life a little impossible to be a single parent, My AMAZING Mother came for the weekend to help out! Just us three girls, we had so much fun, I didn't get many pictures, but we crammed a lot in. It was so fun to have her here, and very helpful! Addy had a hard time with Daddy being MIA, so she was reluctant to leave my side much for fear I too would disappear, but all in all she really did much better then I had expected. She is so attached to her Dad and our routine, that we just were not sure how it would go with him gone. But as they say kids are adaptable, she pulled through. The first day every time she would walk in his office and he wasn't there she would cry, and every time I walked out of a room without her she would cry, glad that didn't last four days, hopefully when he gets home today, she will defuse the clingy bug, but we will see! (it is hard to see but Grandma brought Addy a coloring bag, it is REALLY cute, our little bag lady just loves it, she kept putting it away from Grandma to make sure she left it her and didn't take it with her, so cute, Thank you Grandma!)

So, while Grandma was here, we worked on a lot of things, Christmas, shopping, we showed her a few of our favorite places to eat, went to a girls only party, and we saved our craft for family Scripture study for one of the days she would be here. So we got to be crafty too! We made puppets to go along with the section we are in, these are Lehi's boys, they turned out better then I had hoped for, and we all had a good time making them!

Here is Grandma showing Addy how these puppets work, we have another set we have put together that are finger puppets from the series Book of Mormon for Toddlers (they are free downloads, they also have coloring books, and all kinds of great freebies that help make the scriptures come to life  for little ones, you can check them out here. But they are paper, and were starting to wear a bit thin, so I wanted to find something a bit more sturdy as we have a ways to go with these guys.  Anyways We just loved Having Grandma here, it was really a HUGE help and it was nice for Doug to not have to worry about us, he knew we were in GREAT hands. Thanks Again Mom for coming (and Dad for letting us borrow her) We can't wait to see you guys in 6 weeks!!!! If Doug has to be away there is no one I'd rather spend my time with then my Mom and Daughter! Hooray for girls weekend!
