PROGRESS

We are all about making progress, and lately we have conquered some HUGE obstacles, or at least one person in our house has. (with the effort of all) So a little background, Addy has what we call quirks in adults, but in kids, I guess they are issues, Whatever. She prefers to experience the world through two fingers, rather then hands on down and dirty...(which has it's perks for the parents of a two year old, but it also has some serious draw backs, while most are trying to train their kids to keep out of things, we are training the opposite, a whole different ball game) But in pursuing a path to a possible reason as to her speech difficulties, we have been tackling her sensory issues as well, blah, blah, blah I could go on and on, but the Joy of this post is to announce the progress we have seen this week! Addy ate a cupcake with frosting, a pancake with blueberries in it (not just to the side) and yes folks a chocolate chip cookie! (it may sound like a lot of junk food being eaten at our house, but mind you she is two and a quarter and this is the first time she has had any of the above) She has also mastered her oral sucker exercise, and we have had shoes on all day for two days in a row going on three amongst other things! We are so proud of her and her willingness to face her fears and try to overcome them. Sometimes the OT gal asks her to do things that literally make her want to puke, (some I will admit have the same effect on me) she can barely stand the sight of the task and yet she does her best, and lately has really been making leaps and bound of progress!  She is really trying so hard, and doing all she can, and we just adore her for that and her desire to overcome the challenges she has been blessed with. May seem silly we are so excited about a cookie, a cupcake or a pancake, I am sure life could be enjoyed without those things, but really, oh the potential!  Progress, what a wonderful thing! Now back to work, that progress doesn't come without a price :)
